I could've sworn I posted a comment here too. Maybe I forgot to press the 'comment' button. Anyway, I love all of your selections. The "Hello" duet is a pretty interesting choice that I almost overlooked myself, but they really sounded wonderful together. Their voices blended, and it's arguably the strongest vocal Emmy ever delivered—maybe 2nd, because "Water Under the Bridge" was great too. She grew on me a bit. But I digress.

My Top 5 (and we match on 3 + 1 honorable mention):
1) "Space Oddity"
2) "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right"
3) "Always on My Mind"
4) "Nobody's Fool"
5) "Rainbow"

"Nobody's Fool" is that one that I must love a little bit extra! "One and Only" wasn't one of my personal favorites tbh, as I felt he was a bit disconnected then. And I know his two Finale ones weren't his best—the second song choice was quite an offbeat one.

My only regret (for him) is that, other than his audition, he never got to perform some more of his originals on the show. Although perhaps that was to his benefit, while it was to others' detriment…who knows?

I just recommend to you or any readers to check out, aside from the studio of "I Was Wrong", on Spotify or YouTube: "Big Jefe", "Ol' Bobby", "Swear to God", "Elbow Grease", and several others. They're pretty terrific. Plus his old band, Rightfield, has some good music too, including "Gone".

AT LONG LAST! Thank goodness. It was a terrific season; in the ABC era, I'd say the second best season after 19, which is my personal favorite. But this was a savory win. From the beginning, I had Jack as my #1 favorite, but I had Abi as my #2/simultaneously my 1st choice as pick to win. Just got those vibes pre-season. And then both of their auditions aired, and I smelled an underdog tale for Jack, and this emotional ride to victory for Abi. So happy a girl victory occurred without massive rigging like Season 12. There is hope. Will also has been very consistent and earned this. Shoutout to Kaibrienne, Julia, Jayna, Mia, Triston…it's just been a wonderful season. Next season, I feel like we can just embrace talent regardless and hopefully fans out there won't feel too encumbered by gender wars. Just enjoy the talent and let the chips fall where they may! Thanks for blogging and maintaining such a detailed site. It's been helpful in looking up past season info that I've forgotten and wanted to fill in blanks for under various circumstances!

Haha, I wouldn't really cite "Lonesome Cowboy" considering that was his biggest flop performance, in which he–not once, but twice–forgot a huge chunk of lyrics. The sound of the song was enjoyable, but that's Chris Stapleton's credit.

Will really grew on me throughout the season from complacent coasting to ear candy who consistently delivers. He never quite had "a moment", but I honestly feel this is one of the best Top 3s we've ever had. And he deserves to be there. I am hoping he's 3rd place tonight, but anything could happen. He might score 2nd. Winner isn't outside the realm of possibility, though it just doesn't compute, idk....

My Top 5:
1) "Modern-Day Bonnie & Clyde"
2) "Gimme Three Steps"
3) "Folsom Prison Blues"
4) "Gone for Good"
5) "Makin' Me Look Good Again"

Almost forgot about his "Folsom", of which Paul's will always be my fave on this show. He brought that raspy, spazzy energy to it. But Will added a different verse, and some rowdy stage presence.

This is definitely one of those seasons that makes me long for the days of single eliminations, haha.

Magnificent choices here, too. Pretty much perfection! I have been CRAVING her to reprise the Barbie song since the auditions, and have always pictured it as the ideal choice for the finale. It's sort of the come-full-circle narrative clincher.

Like Jack, I haven't a fully cemented Top 5 tbh, but as of right now, this is what I'm feeling:
1) "Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road"
2) "What Was I Made For?"
3) "Bring Me to Life"
4) "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light 'em Up)"
5) "Welcome to the Black Parade"

So excited for tonight. Even though ~Jabi~ have been my top 2, with Jack being my official favorite, I've still always felt and believed that Abi could and should win. And I would be happy regardless. It's almost refreshing to see how many people wouldn't be too upset either way, but this feels like the best shot and I just—please can we have this, karma? PLEASE.

and I do think Megan's voice really stands out, and that we ani and haven are fantastic

my theory with the girls getting eliminated by the voters so fast........ more young girls vote and they vote for boys

I thought the top 24/26 were the weakest ever... but I also thought the top 10 was one of the strongest.

I thought Zacharia was by far the weakest..much weaker than the 3 in the bottom.... he is becoming Sanjaya IMO... and his demeanor is a bit too "squishy" for me. I thought he should have been eliminated but at least this is now the voters and not the judges for the most part..... it was very just that the 2 the judges put in the previous rd were sent packing asap when voting began... though Tyson may well have had the best pure voice in the competition I am glad they saved Oliver and that his dad can come see his next performance.

Lastly, there are a few I think do better career wise if they do not win.. most notably Haven (as a gifted song writer she will always have material and would be best not subject to the shows molding).

I hear you, and thank you for understanding my point. However, I know that you don't want to hear this, but here's something you should know. Judges choosing any contestants who are in the danger zone on American Idol will always be the policy, and the producers can't change it. It is what it is. Also, I respectfully disagree about the females' voices sounding the same, b/c some of them stand out to me. I know that you don't want to hear it, but, that's my opinion. Also, I agree that many American Idol winners don't always make it, b/c according to American's Got Talent creator Simon Cowell, the celebrity judges are usually more famous than the competition show winners. So, alloutanames, it's up to you to draw your own conclusions.

just can't believe all the socialism and anti meritocracy crap in play today.... we need to get to where we punish actual discrimination, do best to promote equality of opportunity at lower levels w/o taking from others and remove race and gender and identity from college admissions and job consideration and just about everything....

I hear you and don't disagree but after they get rid of the judges situation it does mostly depends on who votes and for whom they vote for.... we always see most of the girls/women eliminated early, maybe it is the young girls who actually vote and they prefer boys :)

I just hate it when the show and judges go overboard casting.... every year they give us a Nutsa (someone funny at first but who is obviously not deserving).. this year may actually have 2 of these at this pt if I include Zacharia.... goes back to Sanjaya and I bet you can flag a Nutsa every year...

another problem w the girls may be that too many sound similar.. great voices but just not distinctive..... think who we actually listen to, it is not the great voices for the most part but the ones that have great songs and something distinctive in the voice to make you listen...

AI winners rarely make it.... as we know.. and I don't think the Noah/Huntergirl duo they are promoting will make it either.... I think some may well be better not winning and being able to use AI visibility but control their own destiny (one exp, the girl Haven.. huge talent and great song writer who can also sing.. will always have songs to sing and does not need the show at a certain pt)

OK, I already know that, but, what I'm trying to say is this show is revolving around another male country singer recently, and now, the producers know ZERO about diversity.;( And, to answer your question, yes, I'm done with the ENTIRE discrimination.; time to show some diversity around here, if you know what I mean.

hard to complain with votes but, as I cite, there is reason to complain when the judges cast the show and do not select on merit...

You know, alloutnames, my biggest problem with American Idol is, when it comes to picking someone as a winner, it revolves around a male country singer.:( Why can't it be a female R&B singer, or a contestant of any color? No offense to the producers there, but sometimes, they have zero sense of diversity.;(

the judges should not have any power at this point.... this was embarrassing to all contestants and to audience voting.... nutsa is a joke and was clearly the worst of the contestants eliminated (though maybe the MWilliams and volleyball player were a bit close), but nutsa was clearly the judges casting a show against the voters and out of spirit of calling the show a contest....

this happens every year.. unfortunately.. this year it appears that Zacharia is this years Sanjaya but at least he was voted on, putting Nutsa in by judges was pure insult to all.... there is NO one that can say she was among the strongest of those eliminated.....

we all suspected they had to put 2 women in, because like all years, the women get eliminated very fast, but even so, why not one of the girls that could actually sing better (I would have went w Serenety personally but a couple of the other girls were also much better) and I thought Matt Wilson was probably the best of those eliminated (but Zacharia prob took his spot)

shame on AI and the judges for this... it does not rep either very well and is, IMO, insulting

let's hope the voters correct this crap... and that the judges input is minimal from here out...

We go from one type of censorship from the producers to another needed. They did not allow Adam Lambert to win his season on the Idol because he was gay even though he was clearly the better singer. This is a family show and the act Nutsa did was way too suggestive. She belongs in a ( burlesque show) where adults can watch her not families.
